News . Where does Germany spend how much money on furniture? Here is the fine-scale map
According to official statistics, expenditure on furniture averaged € 1,132 per household nationwide in 2021. For the first time, this figure was calculated by our sister company infas 360 using small area methods for each individual postcode. The basic data were the microgeographic CASA database and the results from the online survey, the CASA Monitor Konsum und Kaufverhalten.
The regional distribution of furniture purchasing power in Germany
It is only in the regionalisation that such an indicator unfolds its true value. This is because furniture purchasing power varies considerably depending on the area. For example, our map shows that in the municipality of Bokensdorf in Lower Saxony, the average furniture purchasing power in 2021 was €1,529 per household, whereas in the postcode area 04209 it was only €776 per household.
Detailed map of furniture purchasing power in Germany
Only the regionalised furniture purchasing power can be used for detailed insights and regional expansion or distribution/marketing planning. This is also shown by the easymap explorer map, which clearly documents the value for all calculated areas nationwide and shows you, for example, the top 10 postal areas with the lowest and highest expenditure.
