A recap of “Hello Geomarketing”
On September 15 and 16, an atmospheric event was held in Bonn to celebrate 40 years of geomarketing. The event was hosted by infas 360 and infas LT, whose entrepreneurial predecessors can be considered the founders of geomarketing.
In 1982, Lutum+Tappert DV-Beratung and infas Geodaten were founded. Both companies, or their successors infas LT GmbH and infas 360 GmbH, are today united under the umbrella of infas Holding AG. Both have decisively shaped geomarketing itself and its importance for business intelligence and data science to this day.
Infas LT continues to set the standard for software for the spatial analysis of data and its presentation on digital maps with easymap. Today, infas 360 is one of the most innovative data science companies.
Congress “From Geomarketing to Data Science”
After the welcoming addresses, the first day started in the Kunstmuseum Bonn with an entertaining historical review of the beginnings of geomarketing in the eighties. Michael Herter and Dr. Barbara Wawrzyniak then presented their technical book “New Dimensions in Data Science”. Other high-ranking speakers provided insights into the multi-layered topics of ¬Data Science such as Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence and Data Ethics. The event concluded with a look into the future in the form of a highly lively discussion on the topic of “How do we want to live (in times of Data Science)”?
Simply celebrate: 40 years of geomarketing
The evening event offered a wonderful opportunity to meet in person again, talk to each other and have fun. The buffet as well as the live acts quoted the eighties. DJane Melanie Morena conjured up an authentic and danceable atmosphere with her mix, and singer Stephan Maria Glöckner set exquisite musical highlights with his 80s and Police/Sting covers.
Geomarketing and data science for practical use
On the second day, the focus was on innovations around the software and data products of infas LT and infas 360 as well as their applications in practice. The topics ranged from the new functions in easymap and the internationalization of easymap professional to the new infas data API. This enables high-performance access at any time to the geocoding service and the infas 360 data universe with, among other things, three-dimensional building data, international geographic and market data, B2B data or even very specific data based on surveys (e.g. energy market data).
For the visitors, a memorable event came to an end after two days full of memories, suggestions and practical tips. See you again – at the latest when it’s time to celebrate “50 years of geomarketing!”
